The 18 Marsh Supermarkets stores that didn’t sell at auction this week will begin liquidating their inventory on Thursday, a spokesman for the Fishers-based grocery chain said.

Going-out-of-business sales will continue until all items and products are sold and will last most likely into early July, Thomas Mulligan told IBJ in an email on Wednesday afternoon. (A list of those stores is below.)

That leaves 26 stores that will remain open under new owners and names. Kroger Co. entity Topvalco Inc. plans to spend $16 million to acquire 11 Marsh stores, and Fresh Encounter entity Generative Growth II LLC plans to spend $8 million to buy 15 stores.

A U.S. bankruptcy court in Delaware on Wednesday conditionally approved the store sales pending a hearing on Thursday to resolve one remaining issue. It involves landlords that own Lockerbie Marketplace downtown, where Marsh is a tenant.
