Starting Sept. 11, WISH will air nothing but local programming from 4 a.m. to noon, it said. That will be accomplished by adding another hour of morning news and moving the syndicated "Rachael Ray Show" from 10 a.m. to noon.
“WISH-TV’s expansion to ‘All Local, All Morning’ further enhances our commitment to 24-hour news and local programming,” General Manager Randy Ingram said in written comments. “These additional hours allow us to deliver more breaking news, investigative journalism, traffic and weather coverage in new, underserved time periods for viewers.”
The station will add an hour to the end of its “Daybreak” news show, airing it from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. The one-hour “Indy Style” show will move from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. And the one-hour “News 8 at Noon” will be renamed “News 8 Midday” and be moved to 11 a.m.
Two half-hour syndicated shows, “Celebrity Page” and “Access Hollywood,” which have been airing from 11 a.m. to noon, will be removed from the morning schedule and might or might not be moved elsewhere on the weekday schedule.
Ingram said the extra hour of daily news will make WISH the market leader in total hours of local news programming.
WISH has made two other expansions to its morning news schedule since losing its 58-year-old affiliation with CBS-TV at the beginning of 2015.
