in becoming Indiana teachers.
Those accepted into the Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowship program get a
$30,000 stipend to help pay for the program, in which they will earn a master’s degree and teaching license.
The
initiative aims to increase the number and quality of teachers in subjects such as math and science. Program graduates must
agree to teach in high-need rural or urban secondary schools in Indiana for three years after graduating.
The University
of Indianapolis has scheduled a Sept. 9 meeting to explain the program to those interested. Applications are now being taken
for those who want to start the program in July 2010.
