Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity announced Thursday that it will relocate its national headquarters from Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, to Carmel in August.
The 40,000-member fraternity has been headquartered in the Philadelphia area since its founding in 1850. The fraternity currently has 45 chapters and colonies.
The Carmel office, which will have eight to 10 full-time employees, will be located at 716 Adams St.
More than 30 fraternities and sororities have headquarters in the Indianapolis area, including six in Carmel. In June, Sigma Tau Gamma announced that it would relocate its headquarters from Warrensburg, Missouri, to Indianapolis.
The Phi Kappa Sigma’s board of directors spent two years searching for a new location and considered Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville and Dallas.
“This relocation provides a number of benefits to Phi Kappa Sigma,” Michael Palladino, president of the Board of Directors, said in a written statement. “In addition to being the heart of the fraternal world, Carmel is a centralized, metropolitan location with a very high quality of life at an affordable cost of living, allowing us to attract, develop and retain the most talented staff possible to serve our chapters and alumni."
"Our new facility will allow us to serve our members with a more functional space that can better accommodate meetings, training programs, and increased staff interaction to drive the support and innovation that is critical to our organization’s future," Palladino said.
