Large and small events were among those selected to receive $500 non-matching grants.
Visit Hendricks County will award a total of $10,000 in 2017 to support local events that entice visitors to the county through the new grant program. The grants are given on a rolling cycle and close quarterly. The third and final cycle for 2017 began July 16 and ends Oct. 11.
Any Hendricks County-based event can request funding through an online nomination form. To be eligible for the grant, events must attract visitors from at least 50 miles away and take place in Hendricks County, and the event host must be a Hendricks County organization or resident.
Other stipulations include only one request per event and two requests per organization for the calendar year; VHC’s getting proper recognition or sponsorship package for the grant amount, if applicable; and the event must be eligible and submitted for inclusion on VHC’s Events Calendar.
The second-quarter grant recipients were Big Go Block Party, Cruisin’ in Coatesville, Doctoberfest, Hendricks County 4-H Fair, Hendricks County Rib-Fest & Avon Balloon Glow, Play’nfield in the Park and Symphony in Ellis Park.•
