LETTER: Let’s hope for civility in U.S. Senate race

I thoroughly enjoyed Mickey Maurer’s column on Luke Messer, whom I do not know [Maurer: Messer can do better than slinging mud, July 17]. I do know and have long supported Joe Donnelly—but the tone of this race is what you focused on and one I heartily agree with. I don’t have much hope that it will be anything but ugly. But maybe with a few voices like yours, some civility might emerge.
