Praxair’s coatings and technologies business, Praxair Surface Technologies Inc., is based in Indianapolis. Its products are used in the aviation and energy industries.
The workforce program will offer instruction, career support and professional development opportunities to 50 students. The students will complete a one-year curriculum and earn industry credentials, after which they may pursue job opportunities as manufacturing and production technicians.
“Developing the right workforce with the right skills and building a feeder pool of talent is an imperative for us in Praxair Surface Technologies,” company President Pierre Luthi said. “This will determine our success in the future. The best way we can make this happen is by developing these deep connections with our community.”
Praxair contributed $100,000 to fund the program, and the company said other funding is coming from IEDC in the form of a conditional training grant of around $100,000.•
