I could not help but chuckle re: “not going to a required social engagement because you didn’t want to.” I was recently asked to visit a Jewish woman in an old-folks home, as she wanted to speak to a rabbi and had had a “falling out” with her rabbi some years back. After I introduced myself, her first words were, “Why do you have such an ugly beard?” Her family was mortified but I thought it was hilarious. I’m not sure 70 is the age to say exactly what’s on your mind, or perhaps it is 80, but anyway, I wish you many continued years of active and productive life.
