Carmel cloud-computing firm plans to add 50 workers

Carmel-based CleanSlate Technology Group, a reseller of IBM products that also offers a variety of cloud-computing services, announced on Wednesday that it plans to invest more than $1 million in an expansion that's expected to create up to 50 jobs by 2020.

To accommodate the growth, the firm, which currently has about 40 employees, said it will double the size of its 4,000-square-foot headquarters at 2071 Broughton St.

The additional space will allow it to expand its IBM sales team and its consulting practice. That practice helps clients with cloud computing, integration, mobile app development and IT security, as well as with the management and purchase of software programs.

The new positions are expected to pay an average of 60 percent more than the state's average wage, which is $21.21 per hour.

"We believe Indiana and Indianapolis is an ideal place to grow our business," Chris Konow, vice president of consulting services for CleanSlate, said in a statement. "This region has a low cost of living, a great pool of qualified candidates from local universities and colleges, and a strong sense of community, with employees choosing to grow with their companies and build careers."

CleanSlate, founded in 2000, has a long roster of prominent clients, including Carmel-based CNO Financial Group, Carmel-based KAR Auction Services, Japan-based Honda, Cincinnati-based Kroger and San Francisco-based Wells Fargo.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered CleanSlate up to $925,000 in tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The incentives are performance based, meaning the company can't claim them until workers are hired.
