The second Matteo’s location is slated to open Nov. 10 at 1351 W. 86th St., near the southwest corner of 86th Street and Ditch Road, in the space formerly occupied by Amalfi Ristorante Italiano. Amalfi closed last year after 25 years in business.
“We’ve had many guests over the years ask us to open a second location, but definitely the most mentioned area has been for us to expand to the north side of Indianapolis,” Adson Franco, general manager of Matteo’s Indy, said in a written statement. “Now, we have found an opportunity to bring our cuisine and hospitality to the city of Indianapolis and we couldn’t be more excited!”
Matteo Di Rosa opened Matteo’s in Noblesville in 2003 at 40 N. 9th St. IBJ profiled the 4,200-square-foot eatery in a story and video in 2010.
Matteo, a native of Salerno, Italy, is one of four brothers in the Di Rosa family responsible for local Italian spots Capri Ristorante and Amalfi. Two generations of the Di Rosa family left Naples, Italy, in 1991 to establish Amalfi.
The family specializes in dishes originating from the Amalfi Coast, an area known for its pasta, seafood and gnocchi.
The new restaurant will feature the same menu as the Noblesville location and a private dining room for up to 60 diners.
