Dia&Co on Nov. 16 will host a ribbon-cutting at an existing 211,000-square-foot space in the southeast quadrant of the intersection of Interstate 65 and East Main Street.
The company said it will spend $2.8 million on building improvements and new equipment.
The firm has reached an incentive agreement with the Indiana Economic Development Corp. for $2.8 million in conditional tax credits, in addition to $200,000 in training grants, based on its plans to hire 872 employees for the distribution center and customer service center.
Its announcement on Monday of the distribution center project said that it would employ 500, presumably leaving the remainder for the customer service center.
Representatives of Dia&Co. did not return a call from IBJ on Tuesday morning requesting more information.
Dia&Co said Monday it already has hired 200 workers. The minimum it will pay employees is $10.73 per hour, according to its contract with the state.
“We at Dia&Co are immensely excited to open our new distribution center in the heart of Greenwood,” Lydia Gilbert, Dia&Co’s co-founder and president, said in a press release. “We chose Greenwood because of its business-friendly environment and bustling economy, and we look forward to providing a positive economic impact on the region and investing in the growth of our employees for many years to come.”
Gilbert, along with Harvard Business School classmate Nadia Boujarwah, founded Dia&Co in 2014. It serves women sizes 14 and up.
