This 1951 photo shows the 4-H Club Parade at the fairgrounds’ coliseum, which opened in 1939 and was renovated from 2012-2014, when it was renamed Indiana Farmers Coliseum. There are also competitions for adults at the fair. The inset photo shows Eli Lilly—then president of Eli Lilly and Co., founded by his grandfather—showing a cow at the 1941 fair. This year’s fair runs Aug. 3-19.
