Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Flaherty & Collins Properties has been selected by the La Porte Redevelopment Commission to construct a 200-unit multifamily development in NewPorte Landing, the former site of an Allis Chalmers farm-equipment factory.
Flaherty & Collins plans to construct two buildings totaling about 167,000 square feet.
The development will occur along the shores of Clear Lake and will feature a pool with wet deck, a fire pit and park.
Flaherty & Collins says the development will cost more than $30 million. The La Porte Redevelopment Commission is supporting the project with tax increment financing.
Construction is set to begin next summer with an opening set for late 2020.
“I don’t think you can overstate how important this is and the impact this is going to have in the next few years,” Bert Cook, executive director of the GreaterLa Porte Economic Development Corp., told The Times of Northwest Indiana.•
