Bell succeeds Allison Barber, who was chancellor from the founding of WGU Indiana in 2010 until May, when she was named president of fundraising affiliate WGU Advancement.
Bell was most recently director of degree completion at IUPUI. She was general manager of WGU Indiana operations from 2010 to 2014.
“I’m honored and excited to return to WGU Indiana as chancellor, to sustain and grow the university’s commitment to helping Hoosiers return to college to fulfill their dream of degree completion and career advancement,” Bell said in written comments. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation WGU Indiana has built over the past eight years, continuing to advance the university’s mission in our state.”
Bell has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University and a master’s in student personnel administration in higher education from Ball State University.
WGU Indiana, an online university that offers more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, has 5,900 students and has helped 7,500 graduates receive a college degree since its founding.
