The terms we use to describe local geography are changing.
â??Central Indianaâ?? is cropping up more often for television stations, Central Indiana Corporate Partnership and other organizations
that extend well outside of Indianapolis. The term can sweep in as much as a third of the state, and itâ??s increasingly showing
up in everything from marketing materials to news stories.
â??Indianapolis areaâ?? seems to suffice for Indianapolis itself and surrounding counties.
To what extent does Indianapolis figure in your identity?
When you contact customers or friends outside the state, do you say youâ??re in central Indiana? The Indianapolis area? Indianapolis?
Or a place far more specific, like Brownsburg or Broad Ripple?
