Economic development experts have long contended that business investment and good jobs gravitate to places where business,
government and higher education are on the ball and get along together.
If one of the three legs doesnâ??t carry its weight, the other two canâ??t compensate enough to make companies thrive, goes
the
thinking.
Businesses must be aggressive and entrepreneurial. Government must protect society from businesses excesses while still encouraging
enterprise. And universities need to push research into the private sector where the ideas can be turned into high-value products
or services.
