Downtown’s historic Canterbury Hotel apparently has been sold. An announcement of the deal for the 12-story hotel at 123 S. Illinois St. is scheduled for Monday. At a gathering of Wholesale District businesses Wednesday afternoon, a hotel employee announced the deal and said it will bring much-needed renovations to the property, which opened in 1928 as the Lockerbie Hotel. IBJ reported the 99-room hotel was for sale in April. One of the buyers is believed to be local businessman Fred Klipsch.
