With so many new fitness chains entering the central Indiana market, will Hoosier become synonymous with svelte? The latest additions:
A Minnesota fitness chain has plans for new locations in Avon, Brownsburg, Carmel, Fishers, Franklin, Greenwood, McCordsville, Plainfield and Shelbyville. Anytime Fitness already has opened locations in Noblesville and Zionsville. The roughly 4,000-square-foot fitness centers feature 24-hour access. The cost of membership works out to about $1 a day. Nationwide, Anytime has more than 1,300 locations and is opening about one per week.
St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Lifestyle Family Fitness is set to anchor a new development along 82nd Street that would replace a three-building office park and outdoor tennis courts. The tennis courts were part of the Indianapolis Racquet Club next door. The 37,000-square-foot fitness center is being developed by locally based Maquina Realty.
