Former Indiana University and Bowling Green basketball coach Dan Dakich is becoming more entrenched in a broadcast career.
Dakich, who has been hosting a mid-day (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) sports-talk radio show on WFNI-AM 1070 since Oct. 6, 2008, moved his family in June from Bloomington to Zionsville to be closer to the Emmis Communications broadcast facilities in downtown Indianapolis.
This week, Dakich signed a deal to be a weekend in-studio college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network. Dakich did limited work for the Big Ten Network last year, but will be one of the primary analysts this season.
Dakich is the second former IU coach to work as a studio analyst for the Chicago-based network. Former IU football coach Gerry DiNardo serves in that role during football season.
“I really enjoy the TV work and I’m looking forward to the season,” Dakich said. “But this won’t affect my radio show. I plan to be [on WFNI] for a while.”
