Artists-in-residence for downtown hotels?

In an innovative move that I hope others will copy, Milwaukee’s Pfister Hotel has selected its second artist-in-residence.

In march, painter Katie Musolff will be given studio and gallery space in the hotel, along with a monthly stipend.
In return, she’ll show her work there and provide tours of the hotel’s art collection. Hotel visitors will be able to see
her working in her studio as well.

Mulsolff was selected by a committee which took into account comments made by the
public regarding the final six. You can see  her work here. She’ll take over the space from artist Reginald Baylor, whose very different work can be
seen here.

So
what do you think?

Is this a program that would be practical/desirable for Indianapolis downtown hotels?

In a
business climate that rarely fills every room of a hotel, I’m having trouble finding a downside.
