With Indianapolis arts groups getting up to speed, the weekend afforded the opportunity to catch world premieres with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Dance Kaleidoscope, and the Phoenix Theatre. More on all of these in upcoming Lou's Views columns (which you can find in the weekly print IBJ and online at www.ibj.com/arts).
And while I didn't get to New York in time to catch "The Scottsboro Boys," which closes January 12, I did get my hands on the cast recording over this weekend and was thrilled to hear the best Kander and Ebb score since 1975's "Chicago." Here's hoping a gutsy theater company in Indy figures out a way to produce it when rights become available. Here's a sample.
