- LoveSac Alternative Furniture Co. has opened a store at The Fashion Mall at Keystone, its only location in Indiana. The Connecticut-based chain, which specializes in bag chairs and modular furniture, has grown to include 42 U.S. locations. It all started when founder Shawn D. Nelson started innovating on the basic bean-bag chair. In 2005, Nelson won $1 million as the last man standing on Richard Branson's Rebel Billionaire reality TV show. The shop has taken about 1,200 square feet across from The Finish Line in the Nordstrom wing.
- Jets Pizza has opened a new restaurant near 86th Street and Township Line Road. It is the third central Indiana location, after Carmel and Greenwood, for the Michigan-based chain known for its deep-dish pies. The new location is at 2464 Lake Circle Drive.
- Pei Wei Asian Diner is hiring and plans to open its new restaurant at Glendale Town Center this month. The chain is part of Arizona-based P.F. Chang's China Bistro Inc.
- Hokkaido Buffet has filed plans to open in a vacant space just east of Castleton Square Mall. The restaurant will take 14,400-square feet at 6304 E. 82nd St.
- Potbelly Sandwich Works hopes to open its new restaurant on Monument Circle in the former home of Quizno's by May 3. An earlier post is here.
- Subway has filed plans to open a new sandwich shop at 8800 N. Michigan Road across from a J.C. Penney store and next to Famous Dave's. The restaurant is taking 1,865 square feet.
- St. Elmo Steak House is spending about $1.6 million to convert 3,000 square feet on the second floor of the restaurant's three-building complex from office space into a new bar and lounge.
