Hometown hero Josh Kaufman, who emerged victorious on TV's "The Voice," will be headlining an Indy Jazz Fest show at the Murat Theatre Sept. 13 (at a significant ticket price jump over the sets he performed less than a year ago while you ate sandwiches at Potbelly on Monument Circle).
The just-announced schedule for the fest also includes funk/soul saxophonist Maceo Parker and SNL trombonist Steve Turre.
Here's the lineup:
Sept 12:
Maceo Parker at the Madame Walker; Claire Daly Quartet at The Jazz Kitchen; and Sara Gazarek at the Cabaret at the Columbia Club.
Sept 13
Josh Kaufman at the Murat; Gust Spenos Jumpin' and Shoutin' the Blues Show featuring Wycliffe Gordon and more at The Jazz Kitchen; and Sara Gazarek at the Cabaret.
Sept. 14
A celebration of the music of J.J. Johnson at the Indiana Landmarks Center featuring the Steve Turre Quintet; Farrelly Markiewicz Jazz Quartet, Weirich-Murry Band and Butler University Jazz Combo at the Delara IndyCar Factory; and Musica Cubana with Pavel and Direct Contact, Sancocho Dance, and Gerardo Gonzalez at the Central Library.
Sept. 17
Rob Dixon and the Indianapolis Jazz Collective at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Sept. 18
Grace Kelley Quartet at Apparatus; and the Butler University Faculty Jazz Quintet at the Schrott Center.
Sept. 19
Tom Harrell Quartet at The Jazz Kitchen.
Sept. 20
Block party performances at The Jazz Ktichen with eleven bands on two stages.
