—After completing a stint as consultant for the struggling Indianapolis Opera, Steven Stolen, host of WFYI's "Stolen Moments" has taken on a new role as senior director of external relations for the Julian Center, which provides services in support of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises.
—Ball State assistant professor Derek Johnson will be onstage at Lincoln Center in New York Jan. 31 as part of "Reich and Sondheim: A Conversation and Performance." In the company of the two composers, he'll perform Reich's "Electric Counterpoint." The concert is part of Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series.
—The Eiteljorg Museum has hired a new curator of Native American art, history and culture. Scott Shoemaker, a Ball State grad with a Master of Arts in landscape architecture and a doctorate in American studies from the University of Minnesota, previously served on the curatorial staff at the Science Museum of Minnesota. He is a member of the Miami Nation of Indiana.
—The Indianapolis Museum of Art's summer program expands this year to include camps in the 100 Acres Art Nature Park.
—The Indiana Repertory Theatre has landed an $80,000 grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charity Trust. The funds will help support the IRT's Many Mentors Initiative over the next two years. The program offers free tickets to mentees when a mentor purchases a discounted one on select performance dates.
—Lorretta Lynn has been added to the Palladium lineup. She'll perform in concert April 24.
