A&E Priority list includes Taylor Swift, Muppet burlesque, more

Here's a starter list for stuff to do this week. 

Taylor Swift

In addition to her stack of hit songs filled with bad relationship drama, expect the pop star to bring along a team of back-up dancers, tons of light-up bracelets, and a set to outdo anything short of Cirque du Soleil. I’m sure Indy will supply plenty of screaming fans.

“You Are There 1816: Indiana Joins the Nation”

At the latest interactive exhibit at the Indiana Historical Society, visitors step through an image of the 1816 Indiana State Constitution and into the debate in Corydon over how to shape the new state. Also on display will be the original constitution.

Angel Burlesque’s Tribute to the Muppet Show  

You can’t argue with the timing of this show, in which Katie Angel and company pay peel-off tribute to Kermit and company. Obviously, keep the kids at home (where they can watch the new Muppet TV series in their few precious years of innocence).

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra launches its season with Sept. 18-19 performances featuring Emanuel Ax.

The IMEM Music Festival at the Vogue Sept 17 features Henry Lee Summer, The Fabulous Starlettes, Cathy Morris, and more.

Storytelling Arts of Indiana brings back Kevin Kling, Sept. 19, for a performance titled “Help Wanted/Inquire Within” at the Indiana History Center.

Popular podcasting comic Jimmy Pardo headlines at the Comedy Attic in Bloomington Sept. 17-19.

Indy Jazz Fest continues throughout the week with concerts by Dianne Reeves, The Indianapolis Jazz Collective, Davina and the Vagabonds, Sullivan Fortner, and Jonathan Butler at various locations…plus the annual block party outside of The Jazz Kitchen. 

Art Squared, in and around Fountain Square Sept 19, includes an art parade, the Masterpiece in a Day art competition, and more. 

“Second City Fully Loaded,” Sept. 19 at Zionsville Performing Arts Center, features the touring gang from Chicago's famed comedy hub in a benefit for the school’s instrument endowment fund.

Sister Cities Fest, Sept. 19 on Georgia St., offers a taste of the cultures of Taipei, Taiwan; Cologne, Germany; Monza, Italy; Piran, Slovenia; and Hangzhou, China.
