Nickel Plate District in Fishers getting its first bank branch

The Nickel Plate District in Fishers is getting its first bank branch.

Citizens State Bank announced Wednesday that it will open a full-service branch in The Switch building on the corner of 116th Street and Municipal Drive.

The New Castle-based bank said it signed a five-year lease for 3,200 square feet on the first floor.

Five employees will be hired to work at the branch. The bank said its mortgage loan officer, trust officer and treasury management officer will be available to meet customers at the branch.

The location is expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2016.

Citizens State Bank has 15 locations in Indiana, including one in Carmel and a loan production office in Fishers that opened in 2013. This would be the bank’s first branch location in Fishers.

CEO Dan Maddox said Fishers had been part of the bank’s growth plans “for some time.”

“A smart, vibrant and entrepreneurial city needs a bank in the heart of its business district,” Maddox said in a written statement. “What is happening in Fishers is very exciting, and we are very excited to be a part of it.”

The $28 million Switch development includes a three-story office and retail building, a four-story apartment complex and a 442-space parking garage on land where the Fishers Train Station once stood.

The second and third floors of the commercial building already include CloudOne, Ginovus, the Purdue College of Pharmacy’s Center for Medication Safety Advancement and the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership.

In April, Louisville-based LouVino announced plans to open a small plates and wine restaurant on the first floor of the building. The restaurant, which will also serve Sunday brunch, is expected to open in November.
