Roundup: Tech firm makes Fishers move; pizza pub to open in Carmel; diner set for Atlanta

A tech support firm has relocated to Fishers Technology Park, a move that more than doubles the company’s office space and will result in 100 new hires by 2021.

Netfor Inc. announced plans last October to spend $4 million on an office expansion in Fishers. The company moved into its new space at 12115 Visionary Way late last month.

The 17,500-square-foot office is part of a 23-acre office development in Fishers that involves a major renovation of the former Charles Schwab & Co. regional client center.

The company, which provides technology support for software and cloud-based information technology products, said moving into the larger space gives it more call-center space and collaborative work areas.

Netfor, which already has 119 Indiana employees, said it has already begun hiring for positions in field operations, customer service and technical support.

Founded in 1995, Netfor provides technical support in health care, retail, life sciences, government and logistics. It has clients in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Netfor up to $340,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $25,000 in training grants based on the job-creation plans. The incentives hinge on the company’s ability to meet hiring goals.

In other retail and development news north of 96^th Street:

— Pies & Pints, a craft pizza and beer eatery, has plans to open in the Clay Terrace shopping mall this summer. The store will open in space previously occupied by Corner Bakery. Earlier this year, Pies & Pints announced plans to also open a restaurant at Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville. Pies & Pints currently has 14 locations in Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky and Virginia. The Clay Terrace and Hamilton Town Center locations will be the first in Indiana. 

— BorgWarner, an automotive components and parts supplier, held a grand opening for its new technical center in Noblesville. The company announced in May 2017 it planned to invest $28 million to open a 100,000-square-foot, two-story facility at the southeast corner of 141 Street and Olio Road. The facility eventually will house 300 employees.

— The Max Challenge has opened in downtown Fishers at 11680 Commercial Drive, Suite 800. The fitness center is known for a 10-week fitness program that combines a varying workout regimen with a nutrition guide, according to the company’s website. The company has 79 locations across the country, but Fishers is its first Indiana location.

— Community First Bank of Indiana has filed plans to construct new branches in Westfield and Noblesville. In Westfield, Community First Bank would be located at the southeast corner of South Junction Crossing and Spring Mill Road. In Noblesville, the bank would open at 17661 Village Center Drive in the Pebble Brook Village Center. Planning documents do not indicate how big the buildings would be, and Community First representatives did not respond to requests for comment. 

— RQAW Corp. has moved into its new space in Fishers. The company, which previously was located in Carmel, announced in 2016 it had plans to invest $4 million to relocate its headquarters and 60 employees to 8770 North St., Suite 110. 1 North is a $45 million residential, office and retail development in downtown Fishers. RQAW developed the office component and now occupies half of the 30,000-square-foot building.

—  A married couple has announced plans to open a diner and bakery in Atlanta. The diner, to be called the Choo Choo Cafe, will be located at 185 W. Main St. The couple, who operate the Mr. Muffins Trains in downtown Atlanta, has already purchased the building and begun renovations. According to a KickStarter fundraiser, which has raised more than $20,000 for the project, the restaurant is slated to open by Sept. 1.

— A Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub has opened in Carmel. The 4,400-square-foot restaurant opened May 29 at 1438 W. Main St. The Carmel location is the fourth Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub to open in the Indianapolis area. Other locations are in Westfield, Whitestown and Fishers.

— Home Couture, a home furnishing boutique at Clay Terrace, is closing its doors later this month. The store has occupied space at 14511 Clay Terrace Blvd., Suite 100, for about a year. The store will close June 24, according to its Facebook page.
