University spokesman Chuck Carney said the Delta Chi chapter's suspension "stems from violations of the school's student code of conduct and an agreement with Greek organizations regarding hazing."
The suspension became effective Friday and means the fraternity must cease all activities and disband. The chapter may appeal.
Carney also said that at least eight other fraternities and sororities are currently suspended from the Indiana University Bloomington campus. At least five of the suspensions involve hazing.
