Murphy goes before the State Budget Committee in Bloomington on Friday
to discuss the so-called "hybrid plan" that will bring together face-to-face case work and the call centers and
Internet access that IBM has brought to welfare intake.
Murphy is secretary of the Indiana Family and Social Services
Administration.
Gov. Mitch Daniels has canceled IBM’s 10-year, $1.34 billion contract over problems including lost
documents, delays in benefit approval, lengthy call hold times and severed eligibility for Medicaid and food stamps. The pact
runs out Dec. 14.
