Letter: Clubhouse serves important need

I wish to thank Jim Shella for his column on mental health. [Clubhouse is point of light for those with mental illness, Forefront, June 14.] Yes, there are few of us left that remember Central State and its Seven Steeples building. I recall visiting patients at Central State during the holidays when I served on the Marion County Mental Health Board and feeling devastated at the conditions. The [Gov. Evan] Bayh administration finally closed it. By shining a light on the Clubhouse, he has enlightened IBJ readers and hopefully the community at large to its noble mission and its need.
