I see this turning into the new hangout for the homeless crowd. What a waste of a perfectly good parking garage.
Good riddance to a hideous garage and welcome to open space.
That is one ugly garage. I’m curious why the city and Pacers are willing to lose 770 parking spaces.
I’ve never experienced a parking problem in Indianapolis. The garages take time to get out of after a Colt’s game, but that’s to be expected. I don’t think it’s a big deal to lose 770 spots. That garage across the fieldhouse over Virginia Ave is gigantic, and Circle Centre has two huge garages a couple blocks away. There’s also the garages at CityWay, but I’m not sure how available spots are there now that they’ve added hundreds of new apartments. Anyway, I’m pretty sure Downtown has an abundance of parking options. I’d rather have the hideous garage gone. If they were that worried about parking, they could have always designed the plaza to have an underground garage. Sure it’d be expensive, but if the parking revenue was worth it they’d be building it.
