If they could make it like the roundabout at 116th and Hazel Dell life would be good.
Next time you use that RAB look at how much land it’s taking up. NO WAY they can fit that in the 116/Allisonville space…
V K. there is a pretty sizeable, undeveloped lot on the southeast corner of the 116th & Allisonville intersection that could be used to help build a bigger roundabout. Not to mention the entire complex on the northwest corner that Kroger just vacated, which is due for major redevelopments anyway. Very possible to do here.
V.K. — The City owns the land on the southeast side of 116 & Alli…
A Hazel Dell sized roundabout would alleviate a ton of unnecessary congestion there. However, I could totally see the city squib kicking the design and build, absconding with any cash overages, and blaming anyone who dares leave their houses to travel to that exotic community of Carmel.
Christopher T: I suspect the owners of the gas station and the bank behind it at the NE corner, the Dunkin Donuts and buildings on either side, and the CVS would all be opposed to having a larger RAB. I expect they’ll go with the 96th and Allisionville plan, which will lead to a traffic mess.
Bids probably came in low because they’re going to copy what they did at 96th (which didn’t have any of the problems it has now!
According to INDOT’s traffic count database, 96th St and Alllisonville has 31,000 cars on 96th and 26,000 on Allisonville. At 116th and Allisonville it’s 27,000 on 116th and 20,000 on Allisonville – so less traffic, but not that much less.
At 116th and Hazeldell in Carmel, 116th St. traffic is similar at 27,000 cars, but Hazeldell traffic appears to be 15,600.
Fishers is a terribly planned City, continued errors would not surprise me.
Fishers is not a planned city. What was Fishers was the downtown. Out near Allisonville, and futher to the east, happened without much thought to the future.
