Exciting possibilities. Looking forward to see the plans as they unfold and watch what looks to be a very ambitious project come to fruition.
Malls are dead. Knock it down.
You may want to read the story and understand what they’re doing, it won’t be a classic old mall anymore.
Must not have read the story, it even mentioned “some” demolition so yes, they will be knocking down something, not the whole thing, that would be tragic, there are some great buildings that are worth saving.
And get off my lawn! >:(
Pedestrian only, front door access to retailers…good luck to all of those tenants in the winter months!
Yes, because absolutely no one goes outside in the winter. You do realize that downtown Indy is HOME to thousands of people and has a healthy, year round convention and tourism industry, right? I think making the retail more easily accessible/visible from the street is exactly what will benefit this project in ways that Circle Center never did.
I’m wondering if you’re even from the area or you’d know about Clay Terrace in Carmel, the outdoor mall in Plainfield, Hamilton county outdoor mall in Noblesville and the outlet in Edinburg. All of these are year around outdoor shopping centers.
However in the world did people survive before shopping malls were built or it was all enclosed and climate controlled?
I just wish there were more modern architecture in the design for the redevelopment of Circle Center Mall. One could get good inspiration from looking at videos of amazing cities in China off YouTube. Indy needs something dynamic and a glimpse of what a modern Indy would look like. A more bold design that stands out from anything in the country. Like we see all the new $2 billion dollar sports arenas being built. They’re all pretty bold in design. Indy shouldn’t wanna be another cookie cutter city. You seen one downtown project, you’ve seen them all pretty much.
The initial was pretty great! I think they’re taking the entire roof down and opening everything up. I see this project as zero to hero development for downtown. Good mix use of residential and retail without cars!
