  1. 1200 signatures, and I’m guessing they are about all current union members. Sounds like a self serving and self perpetuating demand to freeze out other schools that might treat their teachers better, and as they seem to certainly teach their students better. IPS is always protecting the money when they might want to do a better job of teaching their students first.

  2. I am not a teacher or union member, and I signed the petition. There are too many charter schools in center township now. The city needs to pause and evaluate the schools already in place before allowing new, untested schools to open. There are too many “seats” for the total amount of students living within the boundaries of the township now. I live in center township and care about the education of all of our children, but I haven’t seen significant academic results that would convince me that more charter schools are going to make things better right now.
