It’s all fun and games until the power demands of data-centers result in utility upgrades whose costs are pushed onto the everyday ratepayer, all while we subject ourselves to toxic coal ash for decades longer than we would otherwise need to.
And for what? A handful of jobs & kids having an easier time using AI to cheat on their homework? It’s backwards.
This one data center facility would use 1.5% of Indiana’s total electricity production.
We are slowly but surely watching as Indiana turns into colder & gloomier Alabama. Not good.
They have secured additional/new generation to the grid and all necessary upgrades will be paid by the data center.
WHAT ABOUT THE WATER?? Brownsburg and Pittsboro already have a constricted supply of fresh ground water.
Raw water tap from Citizens, plus they will be using air cooling instead of water cooling so they will not be a big water user.
