The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based bookstore chain, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization last month, announced yesterday it would close the Border’s store in the Shops at River Crossing near the Fashion Mall.
Also among 28 stores added to the closure list Thursday was the chain’s Fort Wayne store at 4320 Coldwater Road. The store is expected to close by the end of May.
As part of its reorganization, Borders is closing about 30 percent, or more than 200, “underperforming” stores.
In February, the company announced it would close its downtown Indianapolis and Carmel stores. Those stores are now liquidating inventory.
Four other stores in the Indianapolis area have escaped the list: Castleton, Indianapolis International Airport, Greenwood and Noblesville.
