16 thoughts on “Trump signs executive order requiring proof of citizenship in federal elections

    1. Hardly. Know anything about elections? For over 20 years, voter reg affidavits have contained a citizenship confirmation. And:

Every single step of the voting process is cross-checked by employees of both parties.

      This is rebranded xenophobia.

    1. Nate, so you just disagree, but don’t say why you disagree or provide fundamental points to back your disagreement? Typical liberal perspective.

    2. Please provide a single shred of evidence of fraudulent voting by non-citizens in any Presidential election in the past 50 years. You won’t because it does not exist. Every state has in place election rules and regulations for administering the elections held, including federal elections. Not a single state has ever reported wide-spread fraud of any kind and all states have legitimately certified the results of its elections. This is a solution looking for a problem, which does not exist. This is just another move in the Putin playbook for Trump to continue as dictator disguised as President.

    3. What David said. He claims fraud before every election because his ego can’t handle the potential rejection.

Trump made all the same claims before the 2016 election. Convened a panel to look into it and they quietly disbanded after finding nothing.

You can’t keep claiming fraud with no proof and be taken seriously.

    4. “Why are there concerns outlined?”

When you refuse to acknowledge reality, you don’t get to claim there are concerns. It has nothing to do with election integrity. That Republicans shrug about making it harder for their own spouses to vote with the SAVE Act … should give away the long game here.

Indiana’s own SOS was caught voting where he didn’t live and I don’t recall any of you “election integrity” folks caring one whit.

  1. Yet another Trump Bad! article from IBJ
Isn’t it weird how the IBJ “journalists” are ignoring Jasmine Crockett?
Nate, I realize the Delaney’s forbid it, but would love to hear Patron Saint Andre’s thoughts on his fellow Squad member

    1. Jasmine Crockett might be the most sane person in government at the moment. Asks hard questions and refuses to accept anything but a real answer…

    1. Those of us who were born in the US don’t get a “certificate of citizenship” upon our birth. Driver licenses don’t show place of birth. My global entry card does not state place of birth. Only the passport reveals place of birth (but only 48-percent of Americans have a passport).

  2. More needless bluster from Trump. Elections (even for federal office) are governed and conducted at the state level. Trump’s “executive order” in meaningless and was done to keep his low-information base in love with him.

  3. Article should have been entitled “Trump again issues illegal Executive Order to pander to Right Wing MAGAts.” Study after study has yet to find any such fraud. This bill is contrary to federal and state law. Federal law, the Voter Registration Act, says all you have to do is check a box that says you’re a citizen. State laws further control the issues brought up by Trump.

Republicans used to stand for state rights, and you’ll still hear the occassional blather about state rights from some Republicans. This will go unchallenged by the MAGAts in Congress, who are too afraid of being primaried to do their jobs.

So we’re back to the courts…and God be with the judges as they seek to stem this wave of evil and malice…
