Roundup: Big Woods branching out to Westfield, Noblesville fieldhouse project kicks off

An Indiana-based restaurant chain that first was associated with the southern part of the state is branching out to the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 32 in Westfield.

Big Woods Restaurants has announced plans to construct an 8,000-square-foot Big Woods restaurant with the similar timber-frame design seen at its other restaurants in Nashville, Speedway, Bloomington and Franklin. The Nashville location was its first, opening in 2009.

The Westfield restaurant, which is expected to open next winter, is slated for the southwest corner of S.R. 32 and U.S. 31. The same menu will be offered, along with spirits from Big Woods’ Hard Truth Distilling Co. and its Quaff ON Brewing Co.

“Our intent is to take the best of everything we’ve done so far in our other locations and bring that to Westfield,” founding partner Jeff McCabe said in a prepared statement.

In other retail and development news:

• Also in Westfield (and near the same intersection as the proposed Big Woods), Starbucks has filed plans to open a 2,600-square-foot location at 17542 Oak Ridge Road.

• Construction has started on the 130,000-square-foot Finch Creek Fieldhouse (formerly known as the Noblesville Fieldhouse) at Finch Creek Park in Noblesville.

The multi-purpose athletic facility will feature five hard-court surfaces, two turf areas totaling 60,000 square feet, 11 batting and pitching cages, and a 9,000-square-foot elevated viewing area.

The $15 million project is expected to be complete in the fall.

• Whitestown residents can get ready to “eat more chikin.” Chick-fil-A has filed plans for a 4,300-square-foot restaurant at 6240 Whitestown Parkway within the Anson development.

• Also in Whitestown, Mexican fast-food chain Qdoba plans to open on Whitestown Parkway, but the exact address of the proposed location has not been determined yet.

• Gluten-free and dairy-free bakery No Label at the Table Food Co. will open a permanent location in Carmel. The bakery, which focuses on employing individuals with autism, had been operating out of temporary space and selling items at various markets throughout the area.

The storefront will be located at 111 E. Main St.

• Another doughnut shop is coming to Noblesville. Rebellion Donuts has filed plans for a store at 17677 Cumberland Road.

• Another Broken Egg Cafe has opened in Fishers. The brunch restaurant is located at 8626 E. 116th St. in the The Switch building in downtown Fishers.

• Bar Louie is now open in Carmel. The restaurant, located at 1111 W. Main St., is in The Olivia on Main building. Bar Louie now has five locations in Indiana, including one in Greenwood.

• Massage Heights will open its second Indianapolis-area location on Thursday. The therapeutic services franchise will be located at 1438 W. Main St. in Carmel. The other location is at 2721 E. 86th St., within the Ironworks development.

• Over at the Shoppes at Saxony Marketplace, Nails & Lounge recently opened. The nail salon, which offers manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, waxing and state-of-the-art massage chairs, is located at 12831 Campus Parkway.

• A new restaurant called Your Mom’s Grill and Bar has filed plans to open at 151 South Harbour Drive in Noblesville. According to the company’s website, the restaurant will have appetizers, burgers, hot dogs, paninis, salads, sandwiches, tacos and quesadillas.

• A 152-room Cambria Suites has opened in Westfield near Grand Park Sports Campus. The $17 million hotel is located at 18592 Carousel Lane, within the area designated for the Grand Park Village development.
