Bio

Jennifer M. Alvey is the senior vice president and chief financial officer at Indiana University Health. In this role since 2016, she oversees financial accounting and reporting, financial operations and budgeting, treasury, capital planning, accounts payable, managed care contracting, pricing, and revenue cycle services, including registration, scheduling, coding, charging, and billing. Ms. Alvey previously served as vice president of IU Health’s revenue cycle where she consolidated state-wide revenue cycle operations and transformed its capabilities to address challenges of the future. Ms. Alvey served as Treasurer for IU Health from 2011 to 2013 and was accountable for all aspects of cash and investment management and responsible for the system’s debt and derivative portfolios. Ms. Alvey’s financial team is comprised of more than 3,000 employees.

Prior to working for IU Health, Ms. Alvey served as Public Finance Director of the State of Indiana, appointed by the Governor on August 6, 2007. During the 2005 General Assembly, the Public Finance Director was given statutory oversight of all state debt issuance as the Chief Executive of the Indiana Finance Authority. Before her appointment, she served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and General Counsel for the IFA. Prior to her employment at the IFA, Jenni was an attorney in the municipal finance and tax section at the law firm of Ice Miller LLP. Prior to that, she worked at Indiana University in various accounting, financial director, and treasury-related positions.

Jenni serves on the board of directors for IU Health Plans, Inc., IU Health Plans NFP, Inc., IU Health Plans Insurance Company and IU Health Plans Holding Company, Inc. and The HealthCare Group, LLC. Jenni previously served on the following boards: The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, IU Health Risk Retention Group, IU Health Assurance SPC, Ltd., CHV Capital, Inc., McKinney School of Law Alumni, Indiana Lottery, the Indiana Housing and Community Development, the Indiana Bond Bank, Indiana University West Hospital, MDwise, Inc., MDwise Medicaid Network, Inc., and MDwise Marketplace & Connect, Inc.

Jenni received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the Indiana University School of Business and a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. Jenni is licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, the State of Illinois, and in the District of Columbia Appeals Court and is an inactive Certified Public Accountant.

John F. Gause has been a leader and visionary in the benefits industry for more than 35 years. In 2003, he founded Apex Benefits, Indiana's largest health and welfare benefits firm dedicated exclusively to employer group insurance. He continues to lead strategic innovation and business development activities.

Gause is a civic-minded businessman committed to investing time and resources in institutions that impact social causes including food insecurity, childhood health, and access to quality education. He is passionate about serving organizations including Beyond Monumental, IPS Foundation, Holy Family Shelter, Gleaners Food Bank, and the Catholic Youth Organization for over 40 years.

A lifelong Indiana resident and proud supporter of life-enriching, homegrown nonprofits like the 500 Festival, he is an active alumnus of Scecina Memorial High School. He graduated from Saint Joseph’s College with degrees in finance and economics. Gause spends his free time proudly supporting the many activities of his three teenage children.
