Although it has not yet withdrawn from the Atlantic 10, Butler University will join the so-called “Catholic 7” in the new conference, according to reports in national media outlets. The school declined to comment on Friday.

A spokesman for the university said it has not entered into “formal talks” with anyone about switching conferences. Butler has been an inaugural member of the Horizon League since its founding as the Midwestern City Conference in 1979.
The agreement, which was negotiated by IMG College, the league’s multimedia-rights partner, will run through July 2014.
IMG College, a division of New York-based IMG Worldwide, will be the locally based college sports league’s exclusive multimedia partner.
The university president likens his role to that of a major-league manager, but retaining talent like Brad Stevens is just the start.
