The former star Merrill Lynch broker this month threw federal prosecutors for a loop, arguing days before his scheduled sentencing for securities fraud that his offense caused “zero financial loss.”
Former Merrill Lynch broker Thomas J. Buck used to generate millions of dollars in annual revenue for the brokerage giant. But lately, he’s been costing it millions. Merrill Lynch has paid more than $4.1 million in settlements related to Buck’s alleged misconduct since firing him in March.
Thomas J. Buck, who was fired by Merrill Lynch in March and hired by RBC Wealth Management in April, received five complaints from investors between March 23 and May 4, according to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
