Turn them all in to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. Much better food and much better service.
Quality of food has fallen tremendously in all respects.
Agreed, Toni. Steak n Shake had a quality product. Now, it seems like they’re trying to compete with Rally’s when they should really be concentrating on the Shake Shack competition that is coming.
My advice to Mr. Biglari: sell. Get out now, and let someone put some savvy, quality food and passion back into the Steak n Shake brand. It’s sad. My family loves Steak n Shake but this so-called tycoon seems to be driving it into the ground. Plus, it’s hard to make a profit at an SnS store when it’s closed, just FYI.
Totally agree Eric. Biglari has driven this brand to the ground!
The quality of what they serve can’t be great for $4. Plus the thought of putting any money in Biglari’s pocket keeps me away.
So if the big loser is company-owned stores, there might be a company management problem?
.
If the company-owned physical locations were ill-suited for the quick-turn, low price brand strategy being pursued by the owner, isn’t that also a company management problem?
such a shame that one greedy man ruined a brand i grew up with! he had no skin in the game so he doesn’t care
It’s unfortunate the Millennial Mr. Bigliar [sic] has something more destructive than skin or money in this game: (Proverbs 16:18) “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” In his eyes, he is not wrong ~ we are.
.
IIRC, his decision to restructure the restaurants were based upon the fact 1/2 of the sales were drive-through and carry-out. What he overlooked is it meant 1/2 of the remaining sales were from sit-down. He picked the wrong half to base the remainder of the chain’s life upon.
.
Rather than let a licensed pilot take over the plane, he is bound & determined to fly it into the ground, just as SUN did with Marsh.
I have been several times to the one in my area and 2 times I have been met at the door (parking lot empty) and was told, we don’t know how long it will take to get service, we only have 1 server. Another time they were out of fries. I really believe part of the problem is they cannot keep employees. It is a problem with fast food across the board.
Truly sad to watch and lose such a previously good tasting and great sit-down service. The quality has taken a nose dive, staffing is rarely enough for the customers on hand, and I fear the current leadership is so disconnected that somehow the drive to be with the bottom feeders is the new strategy. Agree whole heartedly with the comments of Lisa above – re: lowering standards to compete with Rally’s (yuck) versus preparing for competition and better quality like Shake Shack.
So his big plan to “turn around” my beloved Steak n Shake is to eliminate one of its few remaining unique qualities — sit down table service. GREAT idea, doofus. The 4$ menu killed this company. You can’t make money and take care of employees by selling at a loss and “make it up in volume!”
