Five years after its launch, the Noblesville Daily Times will stop publishing at the end of the week, the newspaper said today on its Web site.
“It’s a tough economy, it’s a competitive market, and it’s a tough time for newspapers in general,” Publisher Michael Corbett said in an online story. “All newspapers are wrestling with what the future’s going to be. And the industry is just in upheaval right now.”
The paper, which has 24 employees, is owned by Schurz Communications Inc. Headquartered in South Bend, the privately held company publishes 13 daily and seven weekly newspapers. It also has nine television stations, 13 radio stations, two cable companies, a telephone directory and a printing company.
Schurz’s flagship is the South Bend Tribune.
