Dow AgroSciences LLC announced today it is acquiring sales, marketing, agronomy and product development assets of Wabash-based Brodbeck Seed Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Brodbeck, which develops corn, soybean and wheat seeds, will remain headquartered in the northern Indiana city and be reconstituted as Brodbeck Seeds LLC.
Dow AgroSciences said the deal will build its seed business and expand its product offerings. Dow AgroSciences will continue to independently market Brodbeck seeds under the Brodbeck brand.
Brodbeck President Stan Leland will remain in the position.
Dow AgroSciences, a subsidiary of Michigan-based Dow Chemical Co., has acquired numerous small seed companies in the last two years as it tries to build up a presence in that market.
