Great Dane Trailers plans to lay off about 115 employees at its Terre Haute plant, leaving 115 workers, according to The Tribune-Star. Two years ago the plant had 450 employees, the Terre Haute newspaper reported.
Earlier this month, Great Dane said it would close its flagship plant at its headquarters city of Savannah, Ga., and transfer a significant trailer order to its plant in the western Indiana town of Brazil, where 1,000 workers are employed.
Contributing to the actions was a decision this month by German-owned DHL Express to sharply cut back its U.S. delivery market. Other customers are slowing orders, too, Great Dane officials said.
