Locally based manufacturer Deflecto Corp. has told the state that it will close a plant in Indianapolis and another in Fishers, throwing a total of 219 workers out of jobs.
However, the company said it may keep a small service office with about 11 employees in the Indianapolis area. Details of Deflecto’s plans were not clear; company officials could not be reached for comment.
Headquartered at 7035 E. 86th St., the company invented registers that deflect air from heating and air-conditioning systems. It manufactures air duct equipment, display stands for business cards and other company literature, and plastic mats to protect floors from chairs.
Deflecto is a division of Jordan Industries Inc. of Deerfield, Ill., which owns other plastic-manufacturing companies.
