What’s
being touted as the first-ever Indianapolis Sustainability Awards will be given at a luncheon Feb. 9 at the Indianapolis
Marriott Downtown.
Deadline for nominations is Dec. 15 for projects in the categories of air, energy,
land, water and “reduce, reuse, recycle.”
The awards are sponsored by the McKinney Green Initiatives
Fund, the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and the city’s SustainIndy initiative.
Organizers
are looking for corporate sponsors and selling tables of 10 at $1,000 a pop.
Perhaps what’s most interesting
about the event is, it will showcase clever ideas emerging from a variety of sources, from businesses to schools, said Karen
Haley, director of the city’s Office of Sustainability.
“There’s such an opportunity to educate
people,” she said.
