A Madison County judge this week also ordered Melissa Hazelwood of Jonesboro to spend three years on in-home detention
for taking the money from MDSC Corp. of Elwood.
Authorities say that between 2000 and 2007, Hazelwood forged her
name onto checks that the company’s owners had signed for payments to vendors. Police said Hazelwood spent the stolen money
on vacations, furniture, clothing and gifts.
MDSC President Daniel Neuendorf says the embezzlement forced him to
borrow money from family members and delay improvement to the factory’s equipment.
Neuendorf said the company has
received about $150,000 it is owed from a $500,000 lawsuit settlement with Hazelwood.
