A
new state law requires the Department of Revenue to post an online list of Indiana businesses that have expired registered
retail merchant certificates because they didn’t pay delinquent sales tax debts.
The list will be posted on the
department’s Web site
starting Jan. 1 and will include the name, address and county of the delinquent businesses.
Business owners who
operate with an expired certificate are also subject to fines and jail time. All retail businesses in Indiana must have a
valid registered retail merchant certificate on file with the department to lawfully conduct business.
