Indianapolis-based Commercial Office Environments announced Thursday that it has acquired Area 4 Office Furniture, also in Indianapolis.

Terms of the deal, which closed Monday,  were not disclosed.

Since its inception in 1987, Commercial Office Environments has grown to become one of the largest contract furniture dealers in the state. It has 21 employees. Area 4 was founded in 2002 and has four employees.

With the acquisition, Area 4 owner Pam Watson will become vice president of sales for Commercial Office Environments.

Operations of the two companies, both located on the northwest side, will be consolidated at Commercial Office Environments’ existing facility, a 25,000-square-foot showroom, office and warehouse at 7301 Zionsville Road. Area 4 was located at 7920 Georgetown Road.
